“Why you want to hitchhike, go on a bus or train it’s very affordable..?” this is the main question I came across when I planned my first hitchhiking adventure in India.
Well, it’s not for money, it’s for adventure. Living life on the road, meet amazing people, putting your fate in strangers hand, sharing interesting stories are the reasons that inspire me to hitchhike.
But besides this,
There are two main reasons for hitchhiking
1. You hitchhike for an adventure
travelling by this norm is a stirring adventure. You have to be a fearless person. most of us scared for doing this and even drivers who pick up hitchhikers are sometimes afraid to pick up strangers.
People generally don’t hurt others without reason. People are always nice if you have been nice to them.
so overcome your fear and start your next hitchhiking adventure. It’s always worth.
2. You hitchhike to save money
Saving money by hitchhiking is mostly not a reason in India or in any other developing nations, as public transport are quite cheaper there. You can easily afford your travelling without hitchhiking.
But when it comes to Europe, America other developed nations you save a lot if you travel by hitchhiking. As long-term, budget travellers are always searching for tips to reduce their travelling cost.
There some others reasons like
- Meeting new people
- building some lifelong friendships
- exploring the places on the road
- every ride is a surprise, every person is new
these are the reasons why I love hitchhiking. Meanwhile, one should be well aware of safety for it
about safety
However hitchhiking is safe in India in 90 percent of cases
but for a female solo traveller, they should be well aware, it is preferable to wear covered clothes. And learn to say no if someone is approaching.
Have a knife or burning spray with you in a case of any emergency.
Most of the truck drivers are nice but incidents are about to happen once. And we should not take a chance.
But overall hitchhiking is fun, I love it,
And I hope you too will like it if go at least once in a lifetime.
So plan your trip now, and go hitchhike and explore the world… !!!

Somewhere throughout the sentences you actually were able to make me a believer unfortunately only for a short while.
