Pirotan islands, a fragile ecosystem, located at the costal area of gujarat state, India
A sparse ecosystem where we can look into the corals and its biodiversity without diving underwater.Hence you can see the whole surrounding area during ebbs, by moving in about 2 feet of water.
Due to some restrictions by the forest department, you can visit this amazing place in a specific period of time mostly from November to February when the winter prevails and sea water is much clear.
So Don’t miss the opportunity while you can explore India’s first marine national park.
Why Pirotan Is One of The Rare Ecosystem In The World…???
Exploring 2 kms of surrounding area with the tour guide who is well aware of marine life and animals you can have the amazing experience of marine creatures without diving into the sea.
Therefore to explore the marine life, you do not have to learn swimming, diving or any of the underwater skills. Just wear a shoes and pair of shorts and have fun in sea water with coral reefs and horrific crabs and puffer fish.
so these unique features makes the pirotan island one of the rare ecosystem in the world, where you can explore without being skilled.
How to reach there…?
Jamnagar is a well-known city of Gujarat state, India. You can find the train from any part of the country and flight from Mumbai daily.
From Jamnagar, You have to go to bedi port by road. You can take taxi, auto and even your own vehicle to go at port and then by boat, which is organised by the locals over there. Feeling the mesmerizing and beautiful landscapes around the sea and small islands will make you reach the Pirotan in 45 mins.
Best time to visit…?
October to march in winter season is considered the best time to visit.
We started a 2 km walk around the sea and explored the marine life with our tour guide. Things that you must have with you is sunscreen lotion, dare not to go without it or you will return as a different person. As in most of the sun-kissed beaches, you will feel here the sun kissing you with its extreme heats…!
There is no organization of food and water at the island. you have to bring your own and if you are planning with any tour guide or operator make sure you clear all these things before departing.
One can see octopus, jelly fish, star fish, colourful corals, exotic marine flowering plants, puffer fish, sea horse, lobsters, etc. and if you are lucky, maybe a dugong which resemble seals.
ringed by coral reefs, sandy beach and mangrove swamps, these islands are a treasure-trove of marine species.
waiting for our boats to sail us back to the destination from were we started.
One of My Friends once quoted “Treat life as a sea, heart as a shore and people like waves. It doesn’t matter how many waves are there? What matters is the one that touches the seashore”
This is what I learned by paying a visit to amazing Pirotan island. As a result travelling makes and further helps the individual and the society to be modest and open minded and hence the society is going to be one healthy place to live!!!

Hello Bhavika, Due to environmental concerns visiting pirotan islands is restricted now. We will let you know if sooner or later government allows to visit them in future, just comment your email address and we will inform you.
